Potts Point
Garth had a talent for realising the potential of a property – and the temperament to cope with renovations and moving. The apartment in Rockwall, a comparatively compact place, had the essentials he wanted – a quiet position, northern light and views.

Garth eliminated “funny angles” and improved the flow by moving doors, adding walls and creating openings where there were none. He created a fluid space, elegant in form and content.
He opened what was a narrow hallway to create an elegant entrance lobby and a trompe l’oeil ‘library’ that disguises three doors: one to the main bedroom, dressing room and bathroom; another to a guest bathroom; the third to a powder room.
Every home Garth owned had a fireplace – “They make a wonderful focal point to a room” he would say – and if one didn’t exist, he soon fixed that.
He loved gardening – and in lieu of a courtyard, Garth lined the balcony with large potted topiary. He found gardening satisfying and would say “it’s good to get your hands dirty”.
